A jam session like no other – last Sunday of the month. The quality of the musicians making up the impromptu bands here is astounding – yet new players are all made very welcome.

Organised by Ray, the lead guitarist from Uncle Bob’s Jug Band, this jam is not to be is missed. Onlookers are loved as well and will soon find themselves chatting with some of the locals characters and musicians. The pub has great food and there is even free overnight camping with hot showers if you want to have a few drinkees and not worry about driving home.

When & Where: from 2.00 pm until around 8.00 pm at the Gunalda Pub about 20 mins north of Gympie – Map

From fast finger-picking to soulful songs with sweet harmony singing, these blokes do it all. They’ve appeared at many of the major festivals in Australia and the UK and are highly regarded for their fervour and originality in the genre.

This band has the credentials boasting two Australian Bluegrass champions on guitar, fiddle and banjo, finalists in mandolin not to mention numerous awards to their names from major music festivals in Australia. Ana Marina will be singing her heart out. Ana Marina is a professional stage performer who portrayed the role of Christine in The Phantom of the Opera playing opposite Anthony Warlow.

Look out for some pranksters on the day from the Nanango Theatre Co. who will be performing a Re-enactment of the story of The Wild Scotsman James McPherson … reputed to be Queensland’s most notorious bushranger who roamed these parts in the 1860′s.

Learning the guitar at the age of 12 enhanced his astounding vocal abilities so what else was there to do … he taught himself the harmonica. His renditions particularly of John Williamson, Johnny Cash and Jimmy Buffett songs, captured hearts of visitors from many locations and countries.

Recently he has been seen playing on small ships around the Islands of Moreton Bay, Yacht clubs and good old fashioned country bars where the beer is like it used to be.
